Romantic Destination Florida Beach Weddings!

Tips For A Stress Free Florida Destination Beach Wedding!

Rule #1
Plan early and book early to secure your preferred wedding date, which also increases your chances of securing premium service providers and choice accommodations and reception venues.  You have all the advantages when you book early!  Keep in mind that most brides want to book a Saturday, and there are only 52 in a year!  Select another "day" for your wedding if possible to increase availailability. Accommodation arrangements should be made AFTER you know you have secured your date with the wedding planner.
If possible, select a date in the "off season", such as the fall or winter months. Florida weather in the Fall and Winter, and off-season rates, makes for a wonderful combination, especially for our Northern brides desiring to escape the cold and snow!

Do not try to plan your wedding around everyone elses schedules. There is always going to be someone who cannot make it  for one reason or the other. However, most family and friends will see your wedding as an opportunity to combine your wedding with a "vacation" at the beach and make every effort to attend!

Rule #2
Choose a reputable wedding company, familiar and experienced with coordinating and directing beach wedding!  They will also be familiar with the best service providers which will save you a lot of guess-work, leg-work, headache, and yes - MONEY!

Do not attempt to do it yourself, or shoulder family and friends with the responsibility of handling a venue they are unfamiliar with. It will not work, and could create tension and resentment!
Friends and family are often well meaning and want to help and advise, however, no matter how many weddings they have been in, or indoor weddings they have coordinated or directed,  chances are, they know nothing of setting up and coordinating a beach wedding.  Advise your friends and family that you appreciate all offers of help, but that you want them to enjoy the fun and excitement of your beach wedding with you, and that you have hired professionals to prep, set-up, coordinate and direct your wedding.

Keep it simple!
A beach wedding can be the most romantic and beautiful  wedding experience for all involved if you give control over to the professionals. Beach weddings are a totally different venue than any other kind of wedding. Listen to your wedding planner. If he/she says it is not going to work on the beach - believe that they have experienced just about every scenario possible.
Keep your number of  guest to a minimum. ( We recommend no more than 50) You want your wedding to be about YOU!

If at all possible, select a convenient wedding package for your destination wedding. Wedding packages usually include the wedding location (if not behind accommodations) and everything you need for the wedding, including the officiant, photography and the wedding coordinator/ director, who is extremely important for the day of your wedding, so that your wedding flows as it should.
This person is going to make sure that everyone is on the same page, and  will oversee the coordination and direction of your wedding, so that your wedding day is as stress free as possible. Most beach weddings are "sunset" weddings, so timing is also very important.
Wedding packages are also designed to provide the items and services that have been proven to work best in a beach setting.
Even if you decide to design your own package from an item and service menu, your selected items and services have been designed for the beach!

Accommodations
Beach Houses have become a very popular venue, and can serve as your accommodations,  wedding site, reception site, honeymoon site, and also serves as your back-up in the event of inclement weather. You will not find a better venue for your money! And, considering that some site or venue fees alone can be as high as $5,000.00 in some locations, a beach house is the ideal choice for the discerning bride, because everything is contained in one location, and the cost can be shared. (Some beach houses have up to 8 bedrooms, with large decks overlooking the beach!)
Condos are also very popular  and can serve the same purpose as a beach house- 1, 2 and 3 or more bedrooms w/kitchens and balconies -+ shared costs for families if desired.  Some condos have club houses, or conference rooms that can be rented for your reception, and some condos will provide this at no charge if the wedding party and guests block rooms.

Reception Venues
Beach Houses, Restaurants, reception halls, condo club houses, etc. (Reception sites also serve as your back-up plan in the event of inclement weather).

Advice:
This is YOUR destination wedding - do it your way and have it your way! You cannot go back and do it again if it is not done right the first time!
If you book your wedding during hurricane season,  purchase wedding insurance to cover your expenses in the event your wedding must be postponed or cancelled. (This is rare even during hurricane season!)

We hope this information has been useful in helping you, the bridal couple make your Florida destination wedding plans!
